Torture Dissent
Spencer Ackerman has more on the Torture Dissent Memo that has somehow up and vanished.....how convenient.
Jonathan Turley on Bybee
On his blog Jonathan Turley responds to Senator Patrick Leahy's call for Judge Bybee to resign. Leahy states that the honorable thing would be for Bybee to resign from his judicial post and Turley points out the lack of honor it seems that Judge Bybee has. As a civil libertarian its hard for me to stomach the fact that Bybee made it through Senate confirmation so easily. As Turley notes in his post, Democrats refused to pursue the torture allegations during his cofirmation process, and only 19 Senators voted against his confirmation.
More Calls for Prosecution
Via ThinkProgress.org, former Senator Bob Graham and current Senator Sheldon Whitehouse both lend support for possible prosecutions of Bush Administration Officials.
Clinton takes swipe as Cheney, Pence
Testifying before Congress today, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton let it be known her feeling towards Dick Cheney and at the same time needled Mike Pence for being, well, an asshole. (h/t Talking Points Memo)

Impeach Bybee
Sen. Russ Feingold who has been fairly consistent over the years and one of the more outspoken Senators on the protection of civil liberties and holding the political elite accountable for their crimes hints at the possibility of impeaching torture memo author Jay Bybee, who by some act of God is (gulp) a Federal Appellate Court Judge with a lifetime appointment. Keep on Walking
On Sunday, Peggy Noonan was on ABC's This Week and was speaking crazy to power. Andrew Sullivan captures it perfectly in this post.
Hypocrisy of Jane Harman
Glenn Greenwald has an excellent post on Jane Harman's hypocrisy in regards to civil liberties and surveillance. Check it out.
Tea Bagger Stuff
For those of you confused by the Tea Bagger people, fear not, you are not alone. I don't get it either. The Daily Show completely lampooned these people by sending John Oliver to one of the protests where the tea baggers revealed just how stupid and ignorant they really are video here (h/t huffpost). It makes you wonder if they even know the hsitory of the Revolution and why we broke away from British rule. In order to understand that though they would have to have read a book and one doubts whether or not they can read, and even if they could, would they want to. Aldous Huxley was right when he said there would be no reason to ban books because there wouldnt be anyone who would want to read one. As usual Matt Taibbi destroys the tea bagger idiots here, here and here in the only way he knows how, complete mockery and ridicule.
Torture Memo Fallout
Spencer Ackerman reports on an unreleased interrogation memo regarding Geneva Conventions.
Andrew Sullivan has an interesting post about Cheney as well as an excellent analysis of a Washington Post article that essentially shows Dick Cheney for what he is, a war criminal.

Supreme Court and the Rights of Students
A case is being argued today in the Supreme Court involving the strip search of a 13 year old girl by public school officials. The student was stripped search when on a "hunch" school officials thought she had prescription Ibuprofen. After a search of her bag turned up nothing, the student was led to the nurses office and stripped search that turned up nothing. The Supreme Court is going to decide the constitutionality of the search. Jonathan Turley has more here as well as the ACLU's Blog of Rights.
